The Streets of Wuzhen

The river running through the middle of Wuzhen serves as it's main street.  The real roads...the ones on dry land...are not very wide.  Some of them are wide enough for a single car and not much more.  Others are mere paths, barely wide enough for a bicycle.  I don't know how they were used in the past, but they are all pedestrian streets now.
There are also quite a few bridges to deal with the river and all the offshoot canals.  The main roads seem to have a bridge to cross every couple of hundred yards.  The lesser roads just run up to the the water's edge and stop.   Some have steps to serve as a boat landing or as a laundry stoop.  Others just drop three feet down to the water.  Wuzhen would be a tough place to be the town drunk.
Since Wuzhen is a top-tier-tourist-trap, the streets were fairly crowded with people during the daytime hours.   Since we stayed overnight, we were able to get out early in the morning and enjoy the town before the crowds arrived.  Most of these photos were taken in the morning.   Fewer heads and faces than the ones taken later in the day.
